Tricia’s Shower

Tis the season for bridal showers. This particular event is possibly one of my favorite traditions for a wedding. Every shower is different. Every bride has a group of beauties by her side along with the ever helpful mothers who put together a lovely afternoon.

One of Tricia’s bridesmaids, my great pal, Nicola approached me with all of her ideas rolling in her ever creative mind wanting some tea tin labels and food tags (my favorite). Nicola crafted beautiful windmills and super fun ribbon wands for all the kidlets attending (Nicki, I still want a wand!!). Super colourful visuals. She was ever so nice to donate some of her pretty patterned origami sheets for the food tags and I had SO much fun making these colourful cards.

Congratulations Tricia! Well wishes for the big day!

Creative Menu Ideas

The menu is one of my favourite details at a wedding! Not only because by the time you get to the reception everyone is ready to eat their hand, but there are so many different ways to let the guests know what they are about to eat. Here are few great ideas that I have come across.

My always favourite, Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. custom illustrates this couples menu

(LEFT) Such a great idea for an outdoor rustic wedding. This wood menu is made by Melangerie via Style Me Pretty. (RIGHT) A mini easel is a great idea if you are having a larger group, and still wanted the menu at the table. This way, it makes it more a part of the center piece.  Via Style Me Pretty.

(LEFT) A menu that doubles as a favour bag too! Designed by Good On Paper via Snippet and Ink. (RIGHT) A modern napkin wrap menu by Wiley Valentine via Gina DeDominici.

A very beautiful idea by Calligraphy Katrina via Grey Likes Weddings

And there you have it. Some of this weeks totally creative menu ideas! Don’t forget that not every person at the table needs a menu, it can become more of a center piece on an easel, or a larger board for all to see. Happy wedding planning all!

Wedding Wednesday: Let Them Eat Cake!

Happy Wednesday readers! I was in a cake eating kind of mood, hence the post! I was never a fan of wedding cakes only because the fondant wasn’t my favourite part. From a far they are beautiful, but I would never eat the cake when I would go to a wedding. This was of course before I found out that Whimsical Cake Studio made wedding cakes!! Being a cake lover, this was the best news! Their cupcakes are my absolute favourite! I went ahead and checked out their website to see what kind of creations they have for wedding cakes, and they blew me away!

A beautiful brocade cake in soft yellows.

Everyone’s favourite.. a personal serving of cake, each in their own flavour and bright colour!

A whimsical cake indeed!

You can walk right into Whimsical (8716 109 St.) almost any day of the week (they are closed on Sundays) to treat yourself to a yummy cupcake, then head over to Garneau Theatre for a movie.. before they close it down!!
